We haven’t made a blog post in a while, so here it is.
So a lot of local businesses have been struggling with the latest layout of Google’s local search.
We at Garthys World want to give you the best information that we can to help you succeed online and give you the best chance of being found.
So, what EXACTLY does Google look for?
Google looks for three things, and in no particular order, the first thing is…
Okay, so firstly, what does Google define as relevance?
Relevance looks at how well your business matches what the end user is looking for, for example: Plumber Hartlpool.
The best way to increase relevance is by giving Google more information about your business, example, filling in your Google My Business Page without leaving any information blank. adding as much information to this as possible helps Google understand more about your business.
Google defines Distance as it sounds. Distance is how close or how far you are to the desired result. Google works out the distance by what it knows about your location.
Prominence is defined by how WELL Google knows your business.
It knows that some business have been around longer than the internet (how crazy does that sound) and it tries to factor that in to the search results. This can help local businesses rank.
Prominence is also based on information that Google HAS about your business.
Google gathers information about your business from across the entire web, it will look for your business information across Articles (such as blogs, or press releases), Links (places that have links through to your website) and Directories (Pretty much as it sounds, business directories and comparison directories).
